PRESIDENT ASIF ALI ZARDARI VISITS THE UNITED STATES TO ADDRESS THE 63 RD SESSION OF THE UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

President Asif Ali Zardari visited New York from 22-27 September 2008 to address the 63 rd session of the UN General Assembly. President Zardari's bilateral engagements included a detailed meeting with President Bush, calls by Secretary of State Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Deputy Secretary Treasury Robert Kimmitt, Governor Alaska and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the President of the World Bank, Rober Zoellick and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. The President had a wide-ranging meeting with President Bill Clinton and Senator Hillary Clinton. He also had telephone conversation with Senators Joe Biden and John Kerry. The President had interaction with the mainstream U.S. media and held a press conference with the Pakistani media. He met with pro-democracy activists among the Pakistani community over an Iftar dinner.
